The average cost of a wedding now tops $30,000. But are couples getting anything truly unique for all this outlay of cash?

Couples want their wedding to say something unique about them—something that defines their relationship and their hopes for their future together. Yet, the more they plan their big day, the more they realize that it’s all been done before, thousands of times for thousands of other couples.

The truth is that when the day is over and done, what will they have to show for all the expense and fussing but a few photos and a dress the bride will never wear again? The food could have been served at any event, the band played its standard repertoire, and the favors were cute, but not all that unusual.

Same old, same old, unless the couple has enlisted the services of Heidi Nye, The Wedding Poet, who transforms a ceremony that might have been conducted for any couple under the sun into one that allows a particular couple’s uniqueness to shine forth to their family and friends.

Heidi has been writing and performing personalized poems at weddings since 1986. She begins with an interview to uncover a “defining moment” in the couple’s relationship or some turn of events that brought the love birds together. Using the specific places and situations that make their love unique, Heidi then crafts a poem that she memorizes and recites at the wedding or reception.

The couple is presented with a framed copy of their poem as a cherished keepsake of their wedding day. No two poems are alike, since no two couples and no two relationships are alike. Everything from the invitations to the honeymoon may have been done a thousand times before by a thousand other couples, but this personalized wedding poem is theirs and theirs alone.

Before a couple drops 30 grand on the standard fare, they need to take a look at what The Wedding Poet can do to make their special day truly special.
